I've received several messages about the recent videos on the Dyehouse Instagram. The prevailing reaction is one of confusion and amusement, but mostly confusion. Maybe some panic. Here's what's going on.
I am a 22 year old, and in the months since graduating, it's become clear that my 20s are going to be rampant with contradiction. It's like being a decathlete, but instead of throwing a javelin and running in circles, you eat ground beef from a Pyrex and work a job you're not qualified for.

In your early 20s, you're independent for the first time but live at the bottom of your professional totem pole. Many of us move to dense cities but feel isolated, uncushioned by effortless campus social life. We have more free time than we ever will––no car seat installations, no lawnmower, no pool to clean nor in-laws to complain about––yet everyone is always busy or working.
Each product will come with a new content theme, and this series is meant to articulate the emotions that accompany the contradictions of your early 20s. Sometimes you're very cool, usually excited, sometimes confused, occasionally sad. I observe most brands trying to capture a specific emotional aesthetic, but I'm full of moods and I suspect you are too.

I intend to articulate the vague consistency that persists through the volatility of this period. Our protagonist, Martin, is an aloof, unassuming young man caught in the whirlwind of his 20s. He changes as the world speeds around him, but despite the wild experiences, evolving physical appearance, and even injuries, his spirit (albeit blank) survives. I hope you recognize a piece of yourself in these videos.
The series also shows off a new batch of sweaters coming from Nepal. As always, these sweaters began as a rough sketch on thick white paper, which evolved into a spec sheet to specify materials, weight, 18 measurements precise to the centimeter, and color. That spec sheet birthed pre-production samples, which informed key adjustments to the final order. These sweaters are unlike anything else for sale. The tedious development process is illustrated by the following questions I had to ask:
